As I type, Ambassador Sondlund is testifying. He is a campaign contributor who was rewarded with an ambassadorship. This is “Pay to Play,” but it is unfortunately the norm on both sides of the isle.
It is not the Republicans so much as the entire corrupt system that should be on trial.
President Trump is on the hot seat for his recent political machinations. He is certainly the most political President the country has ever elected in that he is unabashedly political; but all people are political when it suits their needs.
Proposed: Let’s end Pay to Play and elect civic minded public servants for a change.
Pro-taxpayer:
Para 1: “Universal basic income” sounds expensive. WinLoseorDraw does not believe we can afford that.
Para 2: WinLoseorDraw appreciates your correction. The phrase “most political President…ever” should have been “most unapologetically political President…ever”.
Para 3: You mention the “Russian collusion hoax” and ask if there will be a “hot seat” for it. WinLoseorDraw has consulted the crystal ball on the matter of collusion and come up empty. The future, once again, has failed to reveal itself. Since we have no evidence of collusion, both those who proclaim its existence and those who call its existence a “hoax” are pre-mature. Having taken the words “collusion” and “hoax” out of the equation, we are left with the facts of Russian interference in our sovereign election. Sixty minutes did a piece on that last night, and yes, there will be some hot seats in those regards, as there should be.
Para 4: President Trumps “political machinations” are obvious, and they do not require the addition of the word “alledged”. In a court of law we use the polite convention of “innocent until proven guilty”. Here, in Findyournation, “if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck” certainly does apply. By the way, you seem to be under the mistaken opinion that WinLoseorDraw is in favor of the impeachment process. He is not! It’s a huge waste of time and money, and it’s another shining example of why partisan politics in America is not working.
When we have universal basic income everyone will get paid to play!
The Republicans are on trial? Thanks for the warning.
To put the entire corrupt system on trial we will have to hire lawyers.
President Trump’s political machinations–I suggest the adjective “alleged” as even old Twitter-head is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Or that’s how we used to do it, but this idea may be retrograde. Bring on the Senate trial! That will keep them busy for a week otherwise they may do something worse like reach across the aisle, pass bipartisan legislation and give future generations more government debt.
“Most political president…ever” may be a sign of channeling EJ Dionne or another commentarian from that channel. But, “All people are political when it suites their needs,” hell yeah, whenever two or more gather.
