It has been said we are in a “pre-paradigmatic moment.” A time of deep flux, where the foundations of shared understanding that have held true for decades, centuries, or even longer have become unsettled.

And we are on the verge of some mind-boggling societal changes in the coming digital age, thanks to as yet unimagined new technologies. But, humanity’s perception of it’s role in the Drama has not changed in a hundred years. We are still mired in a century long dystopian rut of our own making. And unless the “left” and the “right” can work out some meaningful compromises, we will remain in that rut.

Here to illustrate my perspective (and to make you groan out load – gol) is something I never do, a poem/lyric:

Nobody can tell us nothin’

Think Old Town Road  (Lil Naz X)  It Ain’t Me Babe (Bob Dylan)

Righties got a million opinions

They never change a single one

They say they’re lookin’ for someone

Who’s never weak, and always strong

Someone who won’t be shy about threatenin’

To drop a hundred-thousand bombs

Someone who absolutely doesn’t care

‘Bout what is and isn’t fair

Babe!

Lefties got a million opinions

They never change a single one

They say they’re looking for someone

Who rights each and every wrong

Someone who promises to give us

Every single thing that we want

Someone who never closes any Doors

Who gives and gives us more

Babe
