Politics is too political!
Proposed: New regulations severely limiting Congress’s power to hold hearings and a total ban on Congressional hearings that are meant to influence the outcome of an election.
If the DNC and the RNC are so determined to assert their dominance, let them do it in a more civilized manner. I suggest mud-wrestling!
Both sides of the aisle are guilty.
Dating back to the 2016 election, we have the still on-going hearings and investigations into Hillary Clinton’s emails. Still on-going because some political zealots are insisting that more investigation needs to be done. Also, President Trump is investigating James Comey because he wasn’t political enough when he tried to give Hilary a slap on the wrist and put the matter to bed.
Then the DNC fired at the Republican ship of state with an investigation into anti-Hillary efforts theoretically designed in collusion with Candidate Trump to sway the votes. Investigator Robert Mueller tried unsuccessfully to give the Russians and Candidate Trump a slap on the wrist and put the matter to bed. The investigations are still on-going.
In 2019 and 2020 we had the first impeachment proceedings against President Trump because of his attempt to logroll the president of Ukraine for political benefit.
In 2021 and 2022 the hearings pictured above attempted to characterize President Trump’s re-election campaign with un-Constitutional attempts to overthrow the election of Joe Biden, and also attempted to establish a direct connection between his campaign rhetoric and the riotous behavior of some of his constituents on January 6 at the Capitol.
In 2021, 2022, and 2023 there were hearings into the governmental response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are many other examples of governmental finger-pointing designed to harvest partisan political points at the expense of the opposing party, but let’s stop there.
Should these matters be swept under the rug and forgotten? No! They should be referred to the Supreme Court which would then do what it does best: wait for the heat to die down and issue a ruling.
