Vivek Ramaswamy accused the other Republican debaters of being “Bought and Paid for”. He was trying to create a perception that he is an outsider. Being seen as an outsider is a surefire vote-getter for a Republican candidate because many Republicans are generally fed up with intrusive government overreach and rightly so.
Of course, Vivek Ramaswamy’s claim doesn’t really hold much water. All candidates on both sides of the aisle will seek and accept campaign contributions, and all candidates will feel some obligation to those who do contribute to their campaigns.
For that reason, campaign donations should only come from private citizens with a cap on the size of those donations being mandatory.
Proposed: Let’s bring about the change we want to see in American politics. Make politicians beholden to the people and not to Big Business and the Rich.
Let’s cap taxes and spending. Abolish subsidies and emancipate taxpayers. Unbeholden the people from Big Government and the Dependentariat.
Richard, you said, “Let’s cap taxes and spending.”
I am right there with you, brother!
You said, “Abolish subsidies and emancipate taxpayers.”
To be clear, taxpayers will never be completely free from paying taxes. N’est pas? Also, in a Democracy, if the majority freely and voluntarily vote in a subsidy, that subsidy should not be abolished until a majority vote it out. That said, I will repeat again: Government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers.
You said, “Unbeholden the people from Big Government and the Dependentariat.”
I catch your drift, and I am in philosophical agreement, but, the give and take between We the People and our Government will never completely go away. By the Way, I like your new word: Dependentariat.
