Motivated Reasoning

Politics and political sentiments are dominated by Motivated Reasoning! We humans are adepts at torturing the reality of events to make them conform to our preconceived notions.
Take last night’s election results, for instance. There has been, as you know, a shift in the political landscape, but what does that shift portend?
IMO, the great silent majority has spoken, but we did not say “Now, let’s go after President Trump and the Republicans tooth and nail.” We said, “Stop all the squabbling and get down to business.”
Will the Democrats put aside Motivated Reasoning, and work towards cooperative and productive government? I doubt it! But they should!
Proposed:
Clear up the Strait of Hormuz! Declare American neutrality in the Middle East and broker a peaceful resolution. Introduce some moderation by ending the insane Tariff Wars with the rest of the world. Thank the president for cutting back on the flow of illegal border crossings.
But if the two Parties continue at each other’s throats, elect the best available Moderate in two years.
