National Debt
Our national finances are apparently being handled by crackheads
Take a look at the chart of National Debt since 1940. You will immediately see that National debt has been out of control for several decades now. Annually, the national government outspends income by many billions of dollars.
When people are spending way beyond their means, we know immediately that they are headed for disaster. Why should government not be held to the same standards as people?
The Gramm–Rudman–Hollings Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 and the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Reaffirmation Act of 1987 were supposed to turn down the spigot of government spending, but Gramm-Rudman has been side-stepped and nullified.
You may believe that Democrats are causing this problem by spending too much on welfare, or you may believe that Republicans are causing the problem by spending too much on defense. Wake up! Both Democrat and Republican elites are exacerbating the coming financial disaster. Both sides are “buying” votes with your money, and neither side wants to be the apparent loser in their on-going competition.
It is worse than the $21 trillion federal government debt. Unfunded liabilities for Medicare, Social Security and other entitlements is $113 trillion. See http://www.usdebtclock.org/. Divide this by the 121 million taxpayers equals $934,000 per taxpayer. One argument for immigration is to import more taxpayers but our subsidies make many into recipients and I think the net effect is not good. See https://cis.org/Report/Welfare-Use-Legal-and-Illegal-Immigrant-Households for more information.
WinLoseorDraw agrees with your diagnosis doctor; and if your prescription is to cut subsidies, WinLoseorDraw also agrees with that. These are the only issues that really matter. Why can’t everyone see that?
The 10th Amendment to the US Constitution has long been ignored and thereby nullified.
